A 40 gpm valve is used for the boom up/down and retract/extend. A smaller 20 gpm valve is selected for tilt, frame level, left/right outriggers and auxiliary. An integrated circuit is affixed to the lower flow valve that provides load sense for the brakes, priority steering and pilot pressure. When the lift or telescopic function is activated the orifice is closed off and the pump goes to compensator pressure. It is also true for the tilt, frame level, outriggers and auxiliary functions. This is accomplished by sending the load sense signal through open center core of the 40 gpm valve on to the 20 gpm valve via power beyond. Since the pump in this example supplies only the flow requested any combination of valves is possible.
